*18*     Johann Peter Hack (1792-1876)

Short description

Johann Peter Hack

born in 1792 (date unknown) in Berk (Kreis Schleiden), Roman Catholic, and died on 14 January 1876 in Euskirchen (near Bonn and Rheinbach), aged 84.

Schleiden is a town in the Eifel mountains, near Mechernich and Euskirchen, southeast of Aachen [Aix-la-Chapelle].  Berk is not on the index of car maps, it is on a tiny road, a few miles north of Hallschlag (Eifel mountains, south-west of Bonn).  Go from Schleiden south on the 265 in the direction of Prüm; well before Prüm, turn east to Hallschlag; continue further east and after a mile turn north to Berk.  Good luck to any descendants who try it, especially if they are called Bung: Bung in Berk, thank you!  This is the deplorable result of dancing, the first step on the road to all evil (see note on Martin Faßbender, "Wollen, eine königliche Kunst", in this chronicle).
