*10* Johann Wilhelm Dreser (1816-1887) Short description Johann Wilhelm Dreser born 21 July 1816 in Metternich (Rheinland; near Cologne), Roman Catholic, and died 1 June 1887 in Brühl (near Cologne), aged 70. Father: Matthias Dreser Mother: Anna Maria Dreser, née Leufer Marriage: Johann Wilhelm Dreser, occupation: "Maurermeister" (master bricklayer), married Gertrud Giel on 8 September 1844 in Brühl (near Cologne). Note: Johann Wilhelm Dreser was a master bricklayer when he got married. His bride, Gertrud Giel, was the daughter of Johannes Giel, also a master bricklayer. Klaus Bung (1935-x) suspects that J W Dreser was apprenticed to Johannes Giel, married his master's daughter when he had become a master himself and eventually took over the business of his father-in-law. There is an analogous relationship in the case of Johann Friedrich Hantelmann, 1808-1889, tanner, who married the daughter of another tanner. Links
