How to find me

By car: see map

By bus (from Blackburn Station): Bus 000, every 15 minutes. Ask driver for London Road.

By taxi: There is an excellent taxi service from the station.

On foot: The walk from the station, which may be the beginning of your cure, takes about 15 minutes. From the town centre it is even less. Ask for the Post Office, then for the Barbara Castle Way, then follow the map.

How we work

Your first consultation will take approximately an hour and a half. During this time the fully qualified Homeopath will try to learn as much as possible about you in order to be better able to help you.

Homeopaths think it better to treat the sick person as a whole rather than only the disease. Therefore the Homeopath will ask you about your past health and your life circumstances, health in your family, your present condition, about those characteristics which make up your personality (e.g. whether you prefer hot or cold weather and your temperament) and about your hopes, fears and aspirations.

After the first consultation, these details will be analysed and the appropriate prescription selected. Depending on circumstances, the remedies will either be given straight away or posted within a day or two.

It is advisable that at least two monthly follow-up interviews of about half and hour each are arranged. This will enable the Homeopath to assess the treatment and your progress so that remedies and/or dosage can be altered if necessary.

All homeopaths are required to practise to the standards laid down in the Society of Homeopaths Code of Ethics and Practice (March 2001), a copy of which is available on request or can be downloaded from the Society's website. If at any time you feel the service provided falls short of these standards, please bring your concerns to our attention.

How we charge

Charges vary between initial consultation (incl. remedies) and follow-up appointments (incl. remedies).

There are special rates for children.

We offer discounts to families and to the elderly.

Appointments have to be kept. 48 hours' notice of cancellation has to be given. Otherwise the full consultation fee is payable.

What is homeopathy?

Homeopathy is a holistic system of medicine, i.e. a system which treats not only symptoms and specific diseases but man as a whole.

It was pioneered by German doctor Samuel Hahnemann (1755-1843).

His theory (homeo-pathy), in a nutshell, was that 'like heals like'. (Greek 'homoeo' = 'like'), as opposed to mainstream medicine (allo-pathy) which works on the principle that 'opposites heal opposites' (Greek 'allo' = 'other, different').

Homeopathy tries to encourage the body to heal itself.

Homeopathic medicines are given in minute doses, designed to trigger the natural responses of the body.

For a simple and systematic explanation of homeopathy, you can download a leaflet from the Society of Homeopaths.
